First Day of School

Horizon Christian Academy started the year out on the right foot on our first day of school, Tuesday, August 8th. We believe the first day of school sets the tone for the whole year. We saw school spirit and enthusiasm like never before and expect this to carry on throughout the year. While exciting for many, this day can be very stressful for some students, especially those new to the school. Knowing this, our returning students helped out any new Warriors with finding classrooms, meeting classmates, and getting comfortable. We saw exceptional fellowship and cooperation, and as a result, the first day of school was a success.

Senior Evan Rees said, “Today I took an exciting first step toward the next chapter in life and I’m so thankful to HCA’s staff for guiding me.”

Head of School Mr. Gary Bennett said, “Our desire for the 2018-19 school year is to see the students grow in all areas of development, with a strong emphasis on the fulfillment realized through our identities in Jesus Christ. I pray that any students burdened by anxiety or self-doubt can walk confidently in the transition from being ‘worriers’ to ‘Warriors.’” We have selected John 3:30 to summarize our mission this year, “He must become greater; I must become less.”

We’re looking forward to new upcoming opportunities in all our programs. We’re starting 8-man football this season, in addition to continuing our winning culture in several other sports. Our drama program is preparing for a one-act play this fall, and our quiz bowl team is gearing up for competition. All these things require hard work, a good attitude, and motivation to succeed, all of which we saw on the 8th. It was a great day, let’s make it a great year.
