In the last twenty years has Cumming, Georgia become a residential hotspot and a very popular place to raise a family. Due to this rapid change, there seems to be little to do for young people, especially high school students. The following are some fun things for teen to do in the Cumming area and Forsyth County.
1. Photoshoots Downtown
During the summer, you can oftentimes find teens in downtown Cumming taking pictures. The historic yet well-kept feel is perfect for a photoshoot with your friends. Whether it’s in the parking garage or in front of the courthouse, it’s sure to be a great picture.
2. Sawnee Mountain
A well-known but often forgotten crown jewel of Cumming, Sawnee Mountain makes for a great hike any time of year. The peak, known as Indian Seats, provides a magnificent view that brings out the beauty of the area.
3. The Cumming Fair
Every year in October, the Cumming Fair arrives. This is very popular among Forsyth County teens and many attend every year. You see large groups of high schoolers together and you’re bound to see someone you know there. The rides are just as fun year after year and it’s a great opportunity to soak in a key part of Cumming culture.
4. YoungLife
YoungLife is a youth ministry that involves students from across the county getting meeting weekly during what’s called “club.” Teens sing and dance and get the opportunity to learn about Christ in a fun environment. YoungLife camps are also held throughout the year. North Forsyth YoungLife is held a Flack’s Flooring on Thursdays and South Forsyth YoungLife is at Sexton Hall on Mondays
5. Lake Lanier
If you or one of your friends has a boat, a day on Lake Lanier can be one of the most fun parts of growing up in Forsyth County. Whether is something relaxing or high-speed tubing, the lake is sure to make for a great day.
